At Yoko Kloeden Design, we transcend traditional interior design in London, crafting spaces that evolve with families. Our latest renovation for chef Carine Ottou and her husband Jacob showcases our luxury home design skills, particularly in their daughters’ unique bathroom.

Designing for the Future
Creating a playful yet enduring bathroom for Maj (7) and Mea (1) required a thoughtful residential interior design approach. Carine wanted a space that was whimsical for now and functional as they grew.
Key Design Elements
1. Timeless Color Palette
We chose a neutral base with playful accents, like ‘Seashell’ Kalklitir paint, to soften the overall look while reducing mold risk. “It has a barely noticeable hint of blush pink,” Carine noted, “softening the floor tiles.”
2. Playful Patterns
Instead of bold colors, we used fun patterns. “We talked about stars and moons,” Carine shared. Grey floor tiles from Emery & Cie and geometric wall tiles from Mandarin Stone add visual interest.
3. Natural Elements
Inspired by Japanese design, we included natural materials and plants. Carine loves earthy elements, so we added a money plant and Monstera deliciosa.
4. Smart Storage Solutions
Maximising storage in this compact bathroom was crucial. We designed a vanity unit with silestone top and oak drawers, plus an under-shelf for bath toys and an alcove shelf above the bath.
5. Grown-up Touches
To ensure longevity, we added sophisticated elements like Jim Lawrence lights by the mirror. “They add a grown-up touch,” Carine remarked.

This renovation exemplifies our residential interior design philosophy. By blending playful and sophisticated elements, we’ve created a bathroom that adapts to changing needs, maximizing space with smart storage and timeless design. This project highlights how an interior designer in London can transform functional spaces into charming, adaptable rooms that enhance family life, standing the test of time.
